MALHAMDALE  is an excellent base in the Yorkshire Dales for young and old alike.  There are beautiful walks from the village itself and the Pennine Way passes through the village.

Within walking distance of The Old School are the famous sights of Gordale Scar, Janet’s Foss, Malham Cove and Malham Tarn.

There is also much to interest the climber and the potholer in the surrounding area.  For those who prefer a more relaxed holiday there are the nearby market towns of Skipton and Settle to visit, Bolton Abbey and the picturesque villages in Wharfedale and Ribblesdale.  The towns of Harrogate, Leeds and York and Kendal are within easy reach.

There are a number of cafes and two pubs in the village, all within five minutes walking distance of the cottage, which provide local ales and excellent food.  There is also an excellent riding centre which organises lessons and trekking.

A regular bus service goes to Skipton from where trains go direct to Leeds,  Cumbria and Lancashire. In summer there is a shuttle bus which runs to the Tarn. There is also the opportunity to travel on the scenic Settle to Carlisle Railway.
